Volume 2: The Year of the Fire Camel
The journey continues.
Caravanserai is back. That’s right—it’s camel time.
When we began brainstorming for the first volume of Caravanserai, times were already dire. We expect these trends to continue. With its war on Iran, the US is tightening its grip on a world increasingly wriggling out of its grasp, and every corner of the big tent against fascism is yearning for new ways of thinking.
A slate of new and returning writers will be joining us for Volume 2. They’ll dream up savvy political alliances, forge new ways of thinking about climate adaptation, examine how other nations can navigate US decline, and—as we love to do at our online oasis—think hard about the proper role of government. If Volume 1’s wellspring of creative suggestions for more captivating progressive aesthetics and more grounded politics were any indication, we think this next set of issues may well be a flood of similar inspiration.
We value brevity, heterodox thinking, and anonymity. Our writers respond in 500 words or less. They think creatively about how to restitch (or stitch anew) an unraveling world order and can enjoy doing so through the freedom of un-identification with their institutional affiliations.
We’re giving readers (and ourselves) some more time to digest this time around: You can expect new issues from us every two weeks. We’re also opening up our inbox to readers. If you have thoughts on any of our issues, send us a letter to the editor at caravanserai.forum [at] gmail [dot] com.
Join us on our trek through our political desert, and share our map with your networks. It’s dangerous to go alone!
The first issue of Volume 2 will be published on March 18.
